In my jewelry, feelings, emotions and stories are very important.
The perfection of nature’s forms and the beauty of the material
challenge me to create jewellery pieces of resemblant quality.
Usually, my workbench looks like a natural history collection.
Driftwood of a wayward-knotted shape, pieces of coral, lichen,
dried scale of a carp between petrified sea shell, amber or a sea urchin skeleton gather there.
“How could it look like, the life deep down in the darkness, that no man ever reached?” Now this question is as relevant as then. Also Jewellery Artist Viktoria Münzker asks herself. The place of longing deep-sea. It has lost nothing from its magical attraction, we still stand wondering and admiring in face of the creatures from the wide sea. Total darkness, absorbing everything beyond 800 meters, has been lit up; underwater recordings bring fascinating organisms to our attention.
Yet still the deep-sea floor is broadly similar to Terra incognita, where the residents remain as strange as the stars in the furthest galaxy.
“The deeper the unknown, the more intoxicating the world there is” – thinks Viktoria Münzker. In its inscrutability the sea opens a space of thoughts to her, which she revives with her own ideas. Her jewellery invites us to be a part of it, to dive with her into her realm. It is so colourful, powerful and bright, so graceful, mysterious, sometimes also weird, like a swarm of different deep-sea creatures. The fluid of the sea suites wholly the temper of Viktoria Münzker and her artistic identity. To drift away, to stay spontaneous. Not to confine oneself. Not in the choice of means nor in the expression. One thing is developed by another. If you stay true and abandon to the water, it will carry you. If you trust in your own strength. And in the efficacy of art.
