Show Us Your `Rona
Show us your `Rona is a project, exhibition organized by TempContempt. TempContemp is a curatorial project experimenting with the exhibition of contemporary jewellery. Founded by Laila Marie Costa and Anna Gray, it’s an independent entity, full of questions and searching for physical spaces and artists to collaborate and dialogue with in the exploration of ‘jewellery’.
“Show us what it means to you to be a jeweller when the world is in lockdown? And what do you think happens next?”
“‘Coronas’ reinterpreted, lockdown martinis, memento mori, obsessions, autobiography and political statement.”
TempContemp and Bridget Kennedy Project Space present the pandemic works, thoughts and experiences of 34 contemporary jewellers. Show us your ‘Rona’ is projected in the window at Bridget Kennedy Project Space, North Sydney; Online at tempcontemp.com and via instagram @tempcontemp, between November 11 – December 5, 2020.
When pandemic monopolized our headline news, the need for positivity and a brighter future has become more important than ever. Due to Covid-19 we had to stop. We had to pause our daily hurrying, everyday stress and our routine. A new chance to create a world based on love, help and understanding, living in harmony with nature and society. To surround yourself with colours is a good way to think positive. I use anodized titanium to add colour to the metal parts and different stones to highlight the pieces. The form and the shape of the pieces remind of a Coronaviridae, spherical particles reminiscent an image of the solar corona. A shape, found everywhere in nature, locked in our subconscious.
