Collection Portraits: Homage to Egon – The jewelry from the year 2022 are 5 various portraits by the
Austrian artist Egon Schiele (1890 – 1918). It is the beginning of a great collection of wearable jewelry
pieces. The Figures are made of sheet titanium, which is heat treated, gold, emerald, brass, silver,
lacquer. The metal parts are riveted together. An important detail of these works is that every piece
of jewelry is wearing a piece of jewelry. The portraits made of titanium are wearing smaller pieces of
jewelry, either a ring, a brooch, a golden button or a golden necklace. For example the brooch “Self
portrait with a unicorn brooch” is wearing a smaller unicorn brooch. Each portrait is the original
image reduced to its silhouette. The body is visible through a patch of color and becomes the
exaggerated emotions that were so typical for Schiele. As individual as a kind of aura that surrounds a
person and belongs only to him. The color nuances are caused by different temperatures of the
flame. Characters who appear anonymous hide their sexuality and reject the traditional ideal of
beauty. Jewelry wearing pieces of jewelry as silhouettes whose outline resembles that of the body
correspond. It is a reflection of one’s own existence, created in Schiele’s countless Self-portraits, on
the other hand in the richness of color of his city pictures, which he inhabited. Egon’s intense sense of
reality, the gestures of his posture with the emphasis on his own Hands, suggesting existential issues
and crisis of the individual.
