Description
Dystopic embrace, the fermenting process of making jewellery:
Find a piece of wood that is unique in some kind, harmonic in shape or has “something special” visually or haptically. Imagine the possibilities, that it gives you, try to communicate with the piece of wood in colour schemes. Look for the soul of the piece, search the imaginative forms and grow additions. Concentrate on the delicate details, like in a painting or music. Create a mantle of materials like titanium, gold and micro glass-granules. Dots of colour applied on the wood form the unfinished process of creation called fermentation.
Wine Gems are gems cut of wine bottles. First I choose a Wine to fit with the mood or meal, or just to enjoy with friends. Drink the wine. Then break the empty bottle and pick the thickest parts (mostly from bottom or bottleneck). Then cut and facet the chosen glass like it is a diamond. The colour is extraordinary green, like peridot or moldavite. Creating beauty made of smashed wine bottles.
Utopia fictions disassembly colours. The ground colour of dystopic embrace is still the colour of dark, red wine, inspired by my brooch Nero d’Avola (2013).
Reflect contemporary socio-political reality disaggregated social change and sufficient caution. This inner disorder, caused by the worldwide pandemic situation, separates us from the rest of the world, locks us at our homes and minds. Our freedom has become more important than ever. What makes us feel free, is what we are. It includes the freedom to struggle for it, to make mistakes and to take responsibility that comes together with freedom.
