Description
I’ve created Silver earrings Lichens of stabilized and lacquered wood covered with lichens and the studs of silver. They are very light and shine in a sea-blue to darker green-blue colour with structured lichens. The inspiration is from natural growth. Prediction on the base of initial conditions. A very small change in one state can result in large differences in a later state. In a metaphorical example, a tornado can be influenced by something as minor as the flapping of the wings of a distant butterfly several weeks earlier. Driven by my desire, I allow my intuition to lead and guide my hands when I’m working. Every little stone that I set, every little splash of colour that I make, influences the mood, the feelings and the thoughts of person looking at it. The most important thing is to find a way of synergy between handcraft and concept. Either it is one thought for a piece or a concept for a whole collection.
Lichens earring were made in 2018 and are a one of a kind piece.
Lichens earrings belong to the Unknown Waters collection, I’ve begun to create in 2013. It is about imagination, undiscovered worlds, fantasy, colours and nature. How far is it from the depths of the unknown oceans until you reach the depth of imagination, an unknown place where everything is possible? And in countless combinations? We move slowly, swim at the bottom of our thoughts and discover again and again what we have not even dreamed of. . . You ask yourself where this fantastic variety of impossible forms and mystical colors comes from? What inspires the nature in her creations? I use dried, lightweight driftwood to create my jewellery pieces, mostly brooches, but also rings and necklaces. Dyed and lacquered with few layers of varnish, it becomes stable and wearable.
