Description
Fuchsite Titanium Ring is made for the Terra Incognita collection 2020. I’ve worked on this piece when pandemic begun to monopolize our headline news. The need for positivity and a brighter future has become more important than ever. Due to Covid-19 we had to stop. We had to pause our daily hurrying, everyday stress and our routine. A new chance to create a world based on love, help and understanding, living in harmony with nature and society. To surround yourself with colours is a good way to think positive. I use anodized titanium to add colour to the metal parts and different stones to highlight the pieces. In this unique Fuchsite Titanium Ring I’ve steeped a piece of Fuchsite (also called Chrome Mica) in green micro-granules, filling the form to spine organic curved body of the purple anodized titanium ring. The ring is cut of one piece titanium grade 1 sheet, then hammered and anodized. For me, to create jewellery, is to make the inner world visible. Colours and forms of biological organisms transformed in the mind and through the hands. Amidst the chaos, there is harmony. Millions of fascinating species depend on each other. Some of them fall into oblivion. I want to protect and cherish the natural world. Nature itself defies expectations and comprehensibility. The opulence of color combinations, paired with materials like titanium and wood result in fantasy creations which approach real sea animals in different ways. In Ardent Desire Titanium brooch, contrast and contradiction becomes sharper by using divergent materials side by side. For me it is important to feel the material, its smooth or rough surface, its natural softness or its temperature.
