Lapis Lazuli studs stand out for their deep blue colour in contrast with shiny white color of silver. They are simple, yet subtle and modern. From nighty, lighter to deep blue colour. Lapis Lazuli studs are easy to wear and to combine. They are light-asymmetrical and cut into facets.
Lapis Lazuli was known from ancient times and it was always highly prized. It is common in meta-evaporites recrystallized during high-grade regional metamorphism. Historically, it came from lapis-lazuli mines and occurrences near Sar-e-Sang, Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan. Lapis Lazuli is a deep-blue metamorphic rock. It was always used as a precious stone in jewellery. It was mined already 7th millennium BC in Afghanistan. In the Middle-ages, it was exported to Europe, where it was ground into powder – a blue pigment called Ultramarine, which is the most expensive artistic pigment. It consist of Lazurite, to which it owes its blue colour, pyrite and calcite. Also Sodalite, Diopside, Enstatite, Augite, Hauyn, Mica and Tremolite.
The studs were made for the collection Terra Incognita in 2022.
