Description
Lingzhi – Mushroom of immortality brooch is made of driftwood, alginate, silver 925, brass, patinated natural copper, glass, micro-granules, acrylic lacquer . Lingzhi (Mushroom of immortality) fungus symbolizes great health and longevity. But it was also a talisman of luck and healing. I was touched when I found this fabulous magic mushroom. It was first mentioned in Cao Zhi’s poem Lingzhi pian from the Wei Period (220-265). It is a red plant, and if consumed rendered eternal youth or it was even able to revive deceased persons. The emperors of China therefore used a “Scepter” in the imaginary shape of a Lingzhi mushroom which was called Ruyi – “fulfilment of wishes”. I’ve used a natural piece of green patinated copper and green glass cabochons to enhance the power of nature with the power of colors. It came to reality when pandemic monopolized our headline news. The need for positivity and a brighter future has become more important than ever. Due to Covid-19 we had to stop. We had to pause our daily hurrying, everyday stress and our routine. A new chance to create a world based on love, help and understanding, living in harmony with nature and society. To surround yourself with colours is a good way to think positive. I use anodized titanium to add colour to the metal parts and different stones to highlight the pieces. For me, to create jewellery, is to make the inner world visible. Colours and forms of biological organisms transformed in the mind and through the hands. Amidst the chaos, there is harmony. Millions of fascinating species depend on each other. Some of them fall into oblivion. I want to protect and cherish the natural world. Nature itself defies expectations and comprehensibility Lingzhi Mushroom brooch for Terra Incognita
