The driftwood I use in my jewellery piece Lucerna Viridi is for me an unknown species, found somewhere at the sea. It is extremely light, dry and hollow. Maybe it is fungal. I use vivid colours to bring out its beautiful wood structure. The colour and the transparent lacquer also stabilizes the soft material. In combinations with another material like silver, gold, tourquise and micro granules, I acchieve the look of a new species. These have its origin in my imagination.
To give birth to something new, something old must die.
By focusing on the essentials we reach the blurred lines between natural and artificial.
These relationships are the jewel in the composition of freedom and individual expression.
