I have made this Nightshade ring of a dried piece of banana-wood. It has a thin band and it’s very light although the wood is about 8 centimeters long. It is white to dark red colour and transparent and red glass granules on the surface.
To give birth to something new, something old must die. The transformation of material begins already when a being is born. The transformation of a dried piece of wood, that has been a piece of something bigger, in a piece of art to wear. Before, it was a part of a big tree, now it’s a part of a human hand when worn.
By focusing on the essentials we reach the blurred lines between natural and artificial. These relationships are the jewel in the composition of freedom and individual expression.
