Silver earrings “Heliotrope” stand out for their deep green colour in contrast with shiny white color of silver. They are simple, yet subtle and modern. From transparent green to deep dark green. Moss agate drops complement heliotrope hexagons. Both of them were used for many years in jewellery, especially in carved signet rings.
The first known reference of the heliotrope was in the book “Naturalis Historiae” written by Plinius the Elder in the year 77 A.D.
It is also known as bloodstone. It’s colour is green with red inclusions of hemetite. The name of this mineral comes from greek and means “Turn to sun”. As a stone of invisibility, heliotrope features in Boccaccio’s Decameron.
It is a traditional birthstone of March.
Moss agate is a variety of chalcedony which includes green coloured minerals forming filaments and other patterns suggestive of moss. It is light transparent. It is not considered as a established birthstone, but its green colour makes it corresponding with those, who are born in spring. Its green crystals symbolize renewing, success in new ventures and good health.
